Low-Pitch Roof Replacement in Bridgwater, Somerset
Replacing an unsuitable tiled roof with a three-layer torch-on mineral roofing system designed for the property’s 10-degree pitch
Solving a Persistent Leak on a Low-Pitch Roof
This project in Bridgwater, Somerset involved a low-pitched extension roof that had suffered from leaks since it was originally constructed.
When we assessed the roof, we found that the pitch was approximately 10 degrees and the existing tiles were not suitable for use at such a shallow angle. As a result, the roof covering was unable to provide the reliable weather protection the property needed.
Rather than continuing to repair individual leaks, we discussed the options with the customer and recommended replacing the existing tiled covering with a roofing system better suited to the structure.
For this roof, we opted for a three-layer torch-on mineral flat roofing system, finished in charcoal, providing a practical and durable solution for the existing low pitch.
Three-Layer Torch-On Mineral Roof Installation
The existing tiled covering was removed and the roof prepared for its new waterproofing system.
We installed a three-layer torch-on mineral flat roofing system, with a charcoal mineral finish providing a neat appearance while creating a roof covering appropriate for the property’s shallow 10-degree pitch.
As part of the project, we also upgraded the leadwork to ensure the adjoining areas were properly weatherproofed.
The existing rainwater system was upgraded with new deep-flow guttering, helping the roof deal effectively with rainfall, and a new fascia board was installed to complete the roofline.
The result is a complete roofing system designed around the actual construction and pitch of the roof, addressing the underlying cause of the long-standing leaks rather than simply carrying out another temporary repair.

From the Founder & Director:
“When a roof has been leaking from the time it was built, it’s important to identify why rather than just keep repairing the symptoms. Here, the 10-degree pitch meant the existing tiled covering wasn’t suitable for the roof.
After talking through the options with the customer, we replaced it with a three-layer torch-on mineral system that was much better suited to the structure. We also renewed the leadwork, upgraded the guttering and installed a new fascia board, giving the customer a complete solution rather than another short-term repair.”
