Comprehensive Roofing Improvements for a Home in Castle Cary
This roofing and roofline refurbishment project was completed in Castle Cary, where the Mendip Roofing team carried out a comprehensive programme of roofing improvements and leak repair work for a residential property that had been experiencing ongoing water ingress issues for several years.
The project began with the installation of scaffolding to allow safe access to all areas of the property. Our team then removed the existing timber fascias and soffits before replacing them with new low-maintenance uPVC fascias, soffits, guttering, and downpipes to improve both the appearance and long-term weather protection of the home.
As part of the roofing works, the existing roof tiles were carefully stripped back to allow for the replacement of the ageing battens and roofing felt beneath. A new breathable Tyvek Supro membrane was installed alongside new treated battens, helping to improve ventilation and overall roof performance. The installation also included new 800mm rafter roll-out trays and 5U eaves protection to provide improved drainage and protection at roof level.

Ventilation Improvements, Leadwork & Leak Prevention
To further enhance ventilation within the roof structure, over-fascia vents were installed as part of the upgrade. The team also fitted a maintenance-free GRP dry valley system along with new leadwork at the base of the valley to ensure rainwater was directed efficiently into the guttering system.
One of the key aspects of this project involved carrying out bespoke leak repair work around the property’s glass conservatory, where the main roof connected with the conservatory box gutter. The homeowner had been experiencing water entering the cavity area for approximately five years due to issues in this vulnerable section of the roof. Our team carefully redesigned and sealed the area to permanently resolve the problem and prevent future water ingress.
To complete the refurbishment, the roof verges were re-finished using a traditional cement finish and the ridge tiles were reworked to provide a secure, weatherproof, and visually consistent finish across the roofline.
